ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Stories shaped by myth and place
J. A. Duran Blazquez is a Spanish novelist whose work draws on mythology, folklore and the landscapes of northern Europe.
After more than twenty years living and working between Spain and Norway, he became deeply interested in the stories, beliefs and human conflicts that survive beneath ancient legends.
His novels explore love and loss, loyalty and betrayal, ambition, fear, happiness, tragedy and the consequences of human choices. Mythology forms a deeper layer of these worlds, while characters, atmosphere and conflict remain at the heart of every story.

Trained as an architect, J. A. Duran Blazquez brings a strong understanding of space, place and the built environment to his fiction. His knowledge of religion, mythology and history also shapes the worlds he creates, many of which are rooted in specific historical periods and draw on the beliefs, conflicts and cultural landscapes of their time.
Whether mapping the historic Hanseatic docks of Bergen, the tight quarters of a merchant ship, or the vast, silent expanses of the Arctic winter, his environments are rendered with tactile precision—not merely as backdrops, but as living forces that shape the choices of his characters.
He currently lives in Luxembourg, where he continues to write fiction in which ancient myths illuminate modern emotions and conflicts.
His cosmopolitan background is also reflected in the languages he speaks and works with: Spanish, English, French and Italian, together with a basic knowledge of German.
“I write for those who believe that the oldest myths are mirrors of our deepest modern truths.”
